Institute of Oral Biology
Prof. Dr. mult. Theodore Eliades, Interim Clinic Director:
“Our institute deals with fundamental scientific issues in oral biology. We are one of the few centers in the world to operate as a specialized Institute for studying the biology of teeth and tissues of the oral cavity. With our research projects in the fields of developmental biology, stem cell biology, genetics and tissue regeneration, we make an important contribution to the fundamental understanding of dentistry and its therapeutic options. We are dedicated to both common diseases of high socio-economic importance, such as enamel malformations and caries diseases, rare diseases affecting dental tissues, and all malformations concerning tissue of the oral cavity (cleft palate and lip, dental malformations). We also work on to stem cells and their potential use in dental regenerative therapies. The findings from our work contribute to the knowledge of the dental field and allow novel treatments in the near future”.
