Clinic for Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry
Prof. Dr. mult. Theodore Eliades, Clinic Director:
"Our orthodontic specialists treat both simple and complicated dental and skeletal malocclusions. Most of these orthodontic treatments are carried out on children and adolescents. However, increasingly more adults who want to improve the alignment of their teeth are also coming to our clinic. With the use of fixed or removable appliances ("braces") we can correct any kind of malocclusion. From the various techniques available, we select the one that most reliably guarantees successful long-term treatment results and explain the reasons behind this choice to patients and their parents.
In very complex cases, we work closely with our colleagues from the other clinics at the center. This enables us to treat even severe jaw disharmonies that cannot simply be corrected with "braces".
As a matter of principle, we take care to recognize and treat anomalies in the growth and development of the jaw or the dentition as early as possible in order to avoid adverse effects to the occlusion or jaw relationship. Our orthodontic specialists therefore have very good knowledge of the growth and development of the maxillofacial complex.
In our pediatric dentistry department, our specialized pediatric dentists work closely with the Zurich Children's Hospital to treat traumatic dental injuries in children and adolescents as well as oral diseases in children with disabilities or other illnesses.
Our clinic also specializes in the consultation, treatment and long-term care of patients with cleft lip and palate. Here we work very closely with the Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the Children's Hospital, ear, nose and throat specialists as well as with the other clinics at our center and with various university clinics."
