The clinic PPC is divided into 4 specialist areas. Extensive education and research is done in each area, to be on the newest scientific status. This together with the newest technologies (e.g. usage of dental microscopes or computer assisted dental restorations) form the basis, to offer the best care for our patients.

Unit of Preventive Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology

The unit of preventive dentistry deals with the prevention of tooth pathologies on an individual, semicollective and collective base. A basic condition herefore is the requirement of treatment needs as well as the progresscontrol which is handled by the area of oral epidemiology.

The team of experienced clinicians in this specialist area have special experience with the handling of patients with special problems such as the reduction of saliva flow (Xerostomie) or anorectic problems (Anorexia).

Unit of Cariology

The main part of this area consitsts of the tooth-preservation, namely the restoration of pathologies and defects of the dental hard tissue. After defining the individual caries risk and treatment needs, the following restorations are mainly done with tooth coloured restoration materials. This includes chair-side produced restorations as well as lab-made crown- and bridgework. The computer-assisted manufacturing of restorations forms one part of this. As this technology was developed in our clinic, all the co-workers are particularly trained in this area. The main target of all the mentioned treatment modalities ist maintenance of the primary or the production of a secondary oral health.

Unit of Endodontology

The handlings of pathologies inside the tooth is the focus in this specialist area. These treatments become necessary, when the dental pulp (the so-called "tooth nerve", which contains e.g. nerves and blood vessels), which is situated inside the tooth, has to be removed by a root canal treatment. By special training of our dental physicians, also the most complex cases can be treated in our unit. Additionaly, also revisions of old RCT (root cancal treatments) or surgical interventions may be done to maintain the concerned tooth.

Unit of Periodontology

In this unit all diseases are treated, which concern the gums or tooth retaining apparatus (periodontium). The periodontal pathologies can be divided in two main groups:

1. Gingivitis (gum inflammation)
2. Parodontitis (inflammation of the tooth retaining apparatus)

The diagnosis and therapy of a advanced pathologies of the periodontium represent the major field in this area. The target of therapy is the establishment of an inflammation-free tooth retaining apparatus as well as the permanent reduction or elimination of increased periodontal pockets. The spectrum of the different treatment modalities reaches from professional tooth-cleanings till surgical.
